Man Throws Stuff, Wins Things

Professional bicycle frame thrower, Nick Alonge, won the Frame Toss at the 19th Annual Pancake Breakfast. On April 27th, Alonge hurled a crappy Giant mountain bike frame, fork and stem an astonishing 738 feet to take the 2008 Championship. Upon the completion of the event, Nick commented, “It’s been a long and tough off-season, so it’s great to be able to come back to competition with a strong showing like this.” Alonge is famous for pioneering the “Barley Launch,” a technique set apart not only for the distance it allows him to throw, but also maintaining a steady handle on a frosty New Castle Ale.

“I started doing this about 17 years ago,” said Alonge. “You see, proper hydration is key to a solid frame toss. I haven’t lost a ‘toss since. I’m not sure how to say this, but, I’m kind of a big deal.”
